Order of Preference – City & Provincial Tracks

Greyhound Racing SA Grading Guidelines

  1. Last start winner at the track and distance at the previous corresponding meeting.
  2. Last start winner (city).
  3. Last start placegetter at the track and distance at the previous corresponding meeting.
  4. Last start placegetter (city).
  5. Qualifying heat winner at the track and distance, relevant to the meeting being graded.
  6. Downgrade: A greyhound after becoming eligible for a downgrade is entitled to one race start except in the case of ‘Beat the Grader’ where two race starts are permitted in its correct grade or grades if possible. This applies to greyhounds nominated in Grade 4 up to Grade 2 only.
  7. The Grader may include here any greyhound that in his opinion is entitled to be graded into the field based on its overall record and/or recent performance/or performances in feature events, or greyhounds with equal qualifications.

The Oaks, Derby, St Leger & Champion puppy heats that are run on Wednesday mornings, are considered APK (City) events for the purpose of grading.

The following criteria will only apply to performances not more than 3 calendar months prior to the date fixed for the closing time of nominations.

The Grader will give preference to performances over 400 metres and further. (This will also include ANgle Park 388m).

  1. Two wins from last three starts (city).
  2. Placed two out of last three starts (city).
  3. One win from last three starts (city).
  4. Last start winner (provincial).
  5. Two wins from last three starts (provincial).
  6. Last start winner (country).
  7. Last start placegetter (provincial).
  8. Placed one out of last three starts (city).
  9. Two wins from last three starts (country).
  10. One win from last three starts (provincial).
  11. Placed two out of last three starts (provincial).
  12. Reserve greyhounds that did not obtain a start at the previous corresponding meeting (same distance and grade).

Graders’ discretion

(The Order of Preference does not apply when grading for the Best Greyhounds Nominated in the opinion of the Grader).

PROVINCIAL TRACKS

Angle Park Provincial (SA),Ballarat (VIC), Beenleigh (Qld), Bendigo (VIC), Bulli (NSW), Casino (NSW), Cessnock (NSW), Cranbourne (VIC), Dapto (NSW) Darwin, Devenport (Tas), Gawler (SA), Geelong (VIC), Gold Coast (QLD), Gosford (NSW), Horsham (Vic), Ipswich (QLD), Launceston (Tas), Lismore (NSW), Maitland(NSW), Mandurah (WA), Mount Gambier (SA), Nowra (NSW), Port Pirie (SA), Richmond (NSW), Sale (Vic), Shepparton (Vic), Singleton (NSW), Strathalbyn (SA), Traralgon (Vic), Wagaratta (Vic), Warragul (VIC), Warrnambool (VIC).

COUNTRY TRACKS

All tracks other than those listed are classified as country tracks.
