GREYHOUND OF THE MONTH - SEPTEMBER

The SA Greyhound of the Month for September has the unusual distinction of winning the award without having a run in South Australia . Bothing had only one start for the month, in Launceston, however it was the final of the National Distance Championship. While she may have been interstate, she remained in the care of her South Australian trainer, Bosco Stamenkovic and this makes her eligible for the title.

Her win, certainly puts her on the national stage, as well as earning a handy $50,000 winners cheque. She also broke the track record at Launceston and beat a high quality field of stayers in doing so. Unfortunately injury has again curtailed her racing and may yet finish her career. Bosco has indicated that if she comes into season before she is ready to get back to the track, she may be sent to stud. If that happens, the offspring will certainly be very valuable.

Bothing’s career record now stands at 32 starts for 18 wins and 7 placing’s, with her career earnings of over $82,000. It is her second monthly award in a row and has made the SA Greyhound of the Year title a very interesting one. Earlier in the year it looked like a no contest for Miss Spicy, but now the judges have a little more to consider. Should make for an exiting awards dinner and is great for South Australia ’s profile.
