SISTER CITY CUP FINALISTS DECIDED

 The New Zealand runners for next week’s Sister City Cup Grand Final in Christchurch were decided yesterday, with two heats run at Addington. The results of the heats were:  

Heat 1. 1st Winsome Show; 2nd Asafa Bale, time: 30.22  

Heat 2. 1st Winsome Blitz, 2nd Another Whisky, time: 30.32  

These 4 greyhounds will represent NZ against the 4 SA raiders for the title next Thursday 22nd February. Prizemoney for the race to be run in Christchurch , will be $27,500. It will be the third time the Grand Final has been run at Addington; in 5 events run to date, New Zealand leads 4 – 1.

The box draw for the Final will take place on Monday at approximately 12.30pm SA time.  

The South Australian contingent flew out this morning and will arrive in Christchurch tonight. Thanks goes to Jet Pets Animal Transport for the support in having the greyhounds pass all AQIS requirements. All four are likely to trial at Addington early next week, depending on how they settle in.  

The Sister City Cup was first run in 2000, when Token Token from New Zealand was successful at Angle Park . The full record of winners is:

Local patrons will be able to watch the Final on February 22nd live, as Sky Channel will be carrying coverage of the event from Addington. The race will be run at 6.40pm South Australian time. GRSA thanks Sky Channel for the assistance with the coverage of the nation’s only International race. The SA TAB will also be betting on the race.
