MISS SPICY RESUMES THIS WEEK

It has certainly been a cold winter in Adelaide , but things should warm up at Angle Park this Thursday with the return to the track of Miss Spicy. Local fans will get to see the reigning Adelaide Cup and Australian Cup winner’s return from injury and hopefully the start of another successful Group race campaign.

Miss Spicy took all before her between November and April, winning the two Group 1 features at Angle Park and the Meadows, along with the Group 3 Bunyip Gawler Cup and Advertiser Interstate Challenge. Then following a win in her heat of the Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park on April 1st, injury struck meaning an enforced layoff.

In a 30 start career, Miss Spicy has won 19 races, including 6 out of 7 at Angle Park . Her earnings have already topped $235,000 and she currently leads the Australian Greyhound Racing Association Rankings for 2006. This must make her one of the early favourites for the Australian Greyhound of the Year Award.

Trainer Troy Murray has been trialling her over recent weeks and reports from track watchers suggest that she has been working extremely well, so she shouldn’t be far away from her best on Thursday night.

The quality of Adelaide ’s sprinting ranks has been on the improve over recent weeks and she meets a strong field this week. This includes kennelmate Quinyana and reigning SA Greyhound of the Year, Magic Lee, which won the Port Augusta Cup on the weekend.

The meeting also includes the $11,500 Metro Holden Champion Puppy Final and a strong supporting card. The first of 11 races starts at 6.44pm .
