BUNYIP GAWLER GOLD CUP- SUNDAY 19TH NOVEMBER

GRSA and the Gawler greyhound Racing Club are pleased to again have the Gawler Bunyip as the naming rights sponsor for the 2006 Bunyip Gawler Gold Cup on Sunday 19th November. The Bunyip is the weekly Gawler newspaper and it has a history dating back over 140 years.

The Gawler Health Foundation will also join us for the second time, with all patrons and participants asked to make a gold coin donation for entry into the track. These proceeds will go directly to the Foundation, a major Gawler community organisation.

Features of the night will include an appearance by the popular GAP greyhounds. Also there will be a Punters Club, while bookmaker, Peter Damarell has provided us with $400 in betting vouchers which will be distributed through a lucky book draw. There will be $10 vouchers throughout the day and one major voucher to be invested on the Cup itself. There will be other prizes to be won also, including Cockatoo Ridge wines. For the children, here will be free amusements as well as an appearance by Santa Claus, who will have free gifts for all children.

The Bunyip Gawler Gold Cup is a Group 3 event and the Final will carry total prize money of $21,500. The meeting on Sunday the 19th is a twilight fixture which will receive full Sky Channel and TAB coverage. Racing is listed to commence at 5.18pm , with the final race of 10 at 8.19pm . The Cup itself is listed as race seven at 7.23pm

The Cup Heats will be run on Tuesday 14th November and will carry prize money of $1,000 each. The nominations for the Heats will close with GRSA at 9.00am next Thursday 9th November.

Last year’s Bunyip Gawler Gold Cup was the start of Miss Spicy’s stellar run of Group wins. It is likely to be a keenly contested race again this year.
