Greyhound
Racing
SA
and
the
Gawler
Greyhound
Racing
Club
will
conduct
the
2007
Gawler
Produce
Stake
from
next
Tuesday
afternoon
(8th
May).
At
close
of
nominations,
30
greyhounds
remained
from
those
that
had
made
the
required
payments.
There
will
therefore
be
4
heats
of
the
event
run
next
week
and
2
semi-finals
the
following
Tuesday.
The
Final
will
be
run
on
Monday
night
21st
May,
which
hopefully
should
allow
more
people
to
attend
the
rich
event.
The
normal
The
2007
Gawler
Produce
Stake
is
a
series
for
greyhounds
whelped
in
2005
and
is
a
“Futurity”
event
requiring
payments
which
began
in
October
last
year.
With
the
final
numbers
now
known,
the
prize
money
breakdown
for
the
series
will
be
as
follows:

While
numbers
are
down
on
last
year,
the
quality
of
the
runners
looks
very
good.
Heading
up
the
series
are
the
likes
of
Scull
Murphy,
Gemstone
Supreme,
Emerley
Carlos,
Lucky
Trump,
Token
Cabernet,
Keep
Token
along
with
a
number
of
other
proven
winners.
The
Produce
Stake
has
a
long
history
with
some
top
winners
over
the
years.
Last
year’s
winner
was
Ten
Tornados,
which
went
on
to
represent
SA
in
the
National
Sprint
Championship
and
was
a
Finalist
for
the
SA
Greyhound
of
the
Year.
The
2005
winner,
Magic
Lee,
was
the
SA
Greyhound
of
the
Year
for
that
year.
