HEATS
The
2006
Coca
Cola
Derby
kicks
off
next
Wednesday
morning
(27th
September)
with
the
heats
of
the
Group
Two
event.
This
is
the
second
year
that
the
Wednesday
morning
heats
have
been
run
and
if
the
Oaks
heats
last
week
are
anything
to
go
by
it
should
be
a
great
morning
of
racing.
In
total
there
were
46
nominations,
which
compares
to
44
last
year,
resulting
in
6
heats
being
run
on
Wednesday.
As
with
the
Oaks,
there
is
a
strong
interstate
contingent,
with
22
coming
to
race
for
the
trophy.
Andrea
Dailly
is
bringing
a
big
team
of
10
across
to
lead
the
charge,
while
Petar
Jovanovic
has
5
runners
and
Steve
Collins
4
to
head
the
locals.
There
will
be
3
semi-finals
run
on
Thursday
night
5th
October,
so
the
first
4
greyhounds
from
each
heat
will
advance
and
the
fifth
placegetters
declared
as
reserves.
The
Group
2
Coca
Cola
Derby
Final
carries
prize
money
of
$30,000
and
the
winner
receives
$20,000
The
Final
is
on
Thursday
12th
October.
