Greyhound of the month for September was Kalden Mayhem for trainer Troy Murray.
For the second month in a row the Panel was unanimous in its decision for September, again voting for Kalden Mayhem as the Greyhound of the Month making it back to back monthly awards for the Troy Murray trained flyer. Kalden Mayhem is now clearly one of the favourites for the Greyhound of the Year title at the end of the year after polling votes in 5 out of the past 8 months.
Returning to South Australia after his placing in the National Distance Championships in Brisbane he started the month of with a solid win over 600m at headquarters before heading to Strathalbyn for their Cup series. The son of Big Daddy Cool and Abbadale Gold set the Southern Greyhound Raceway alight in the heats winning by 6¼ lengths in a track record time of 30.88 for the 536m journey announcing he would be the one to beat in the final. With a two week gap to the final Kalden Mayhem stepped out in a 515m event at Angle Park where he stared a long odds on favourite only to find plenty of trouble before flashing home for third.
His sights were then set on the Strathalbyn Cup Final in late September where he didn’t disappoint again running terrific time of 31.05 in winning by 6½ lengths and establishing himself as one of the stars of SA greyhound racing.
In September Kalden Mayhem had four starts for three wins and a third bringing his career to 54 starts for 24 wins and 16 placings and over $70,000 in stakemoney. |
