Greyhound of the month for December was Crazy Heart for trainer Bruce Lellmann.
In a tight month of voting Crazy Heart was rewarded in December mainly for her victory in the 2011 Xmas Sprint late in the month.
A terrific field of sprinters was brought together for the race where she began nicely from box 6 to race up near the lead before taking over into the back straight. From there Crazy Heart was never headed and went on to the line strongly recording a 4 length victory in a solid 29.99 over the 515m journey.
Earlier in the month she showed her versatility by winning over the 600m at Angle Park recording a solid 35.24 and also the 531m journey at Gawler rating a handy 30.96, on both occasions leading throughout.
Bred in the Riverland by Don Gordon and Matthew Doherty the daughter of Black Enforcer and Bar Crusher looks to be right back to her best and in the form that saw her make the Group 1 Triple M Adelaide Cup Final back in October.
At the end of the month Crazy Heart’s career record stood at 46 starts with 19 wins and 17 placing’s, and earnings just under $35,000. |
